I graduated in 2015 with 650 hours of education from Arcata School of Massage in California and I am currently a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Colorado. I have worked as a Massage Therapist in Fairbanks, Alaska (my hometown), Hopkins, Belize, and most recently in Juneau, Alaska. I am very happy to be back and practicing massage in lovely Fort Collins, Colorado, after traveling back to Alaska with my husband during Covid to have my daughter near family in Juneau, AK. Being a Mom continues to be my greatest joy!
I have been an insured member of The American Massage Therapist Association since 2015 and am still thrilled to be working in such a rewarding, dynamic and helpful field. One of my most recent positions, as an LMT, was at a Bone and Joint Center where a team of Orthopedic Doctors, Physical Therapists and Massage Therapists primarily worked with patients who were either trying to avoid surgery, recovering after surgery, or dealing with limiting pain. I also enjoyed working with the Massage Therapists at Living Arts Wellness in Fort Collins, CO. I enjoy helping people lead more pain free lives!
I specialize in more focused sports massage sessions to treat specific pain and dysfunction and to help you get back in your game, as well as skilled therapeutic relaxation massage using a combination of techniques; primarily Swedish, Neuromuscular, Myofascial release, Trigger Point and Deep Tissue. I use an integrative approach to each session, emphasizing clear communication with my clients in order to provide you with the best session possible, while listening to your bodies response to each technique. I believe it is important to work at the "speed of the body" and not the speed of the mind.
Massage, as an adjunct manual therapy, can help create more functional body movement patterns, by helping us create what I like to call "a more accurate bodymap," through increased body awareness, or proprioception. Depending on what type of issues you are experiencing, I may be able to offer you some simple exercises to do at home that can help keep your body moving more functionally between massage sessions, providing you with longer lasting relief. Massage can also help create more functional mental patterns by giving us space for our thoughts to slow down. Research has indicated that regular massage helps our bodies become more efficient with our breath and our oxygenation... providing important benefits throughout the body!
I use a combination of modalities including: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular techniques,Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Acupressure and Reiki. Feel free to ask me about any of these in more detail. I am an experienced Certified Labor Doula and have trained in prenatal massage as well. Additionally, I have continuing education in Advanced Myofascial Techniques with Til Luchau, Sports Massage, treating lower back pain and more. I am excited to announce I am introducing dynamic cupping sessions, as well as Bamboo Bliss (Mu Xing) or heated bamboo massage, so stay tuned! I look forward to working with you in the lovely town of Fort Collins, CO.
